Stay Safe Stay Healthy

Good Health Is the Key to a Lifetime of Independence

Strength, balance, good food, sound sleep, and people to talk to. None of it is complicated, and all of it makes the rest of staying safe easier. This book puts the basics in one place, in plain English, with room for real life.

  • Every fact checked against a named source
  • Written in plain English
  • eBook, audiobook, and paperback

Is this book for you?

If any of these sounds like you, yes.

  • “I want to stay strong enough to do what I enjoy.”

  • “I’ve been feeling unsteady and I want to work on my balance.”

  • “My list of medicines keeps growing and I’m not sure I’m managing it well.”

An older woman and man practice standing yoga poses together on mats in a sunny park.

Why we’re writing this book

Your health is the ground the rest of this series stands on. A fall often starts with balance that has quietly slipped. A scam often lands harder on someone who’s lonely. A missed tablet can undo a good week. Look after the basics and every other safety step gets easier.

This book takes the whole-person view. Strength and balance work you can do at home, following the CDC’s guidance for adults 65 and over. Eating well as your needs change. Managing medicines safely as the list gets longer, and knowing what to ask your pharmacist. It also covers the parts of getting older that are harder to talk about: loneliness, low mood, grief, and how to recognize when someone you trust isn’t treating you well. Not to worry you. So you know what to look for and who to call.

Steadier on your feet, and everything else gets easier.

What’s inside

Questions people ask

When will Stay Safe Stay Healthy launch?

It’s being written now. Join the list above and you’ll get one email the day it’s ready.

Is this a substitute for medical care?

No. It’s about the daily habits that keep you strong and connected. Always talk with your doctor about your own health, any changes you notice, and before you start a new exercise routine.

Does it cover mental health?

Yes. Low mood, grief, and loneliness are covered plainly and without stigma, along with when and how to get support.

Will it help if I already manage a long-term condition?

Yes. One chapter covers living well with common conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, and heart disease, alongside the care you already get from your doctor.

How does it connect to the rest of the series?

It’s the foundation the other books build on. Steadier balance makes Book 2’s home fixes matter more, and staying connected makes the scams in Book 3 easier to spot. It also stands on its own.

This book shares general safety information. It isn’t medical, legal, or financial advice. For advice about your own situation, talk with a qualified professional.
