End User Licence Agreement (EULA)
Last updated: October 3, 2026
Effective date: October 3, 2026 (replaces the version dated July 1, 2025).
This End User Licence Agreement ("Agreement") is between you and PPM Insights Pty Ltd ("we", "us"), publisher of the Independent Seniors books, apps and other products written by Ed Chivers. It applies when you buy, download, open or use any of our books, apps, free downloads or this website (together, the "Products"). Our Terms of Service cover buying; this Agreement covers using what you've bought.
Nothing in this Agreement limits rights you have by law as a consumer, including under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer laws of the country where you live.
1. Ownership
1.1 All rights in the Products belong to Ed Chivers and are licensed to PPM Insights Pty Ltd as publisher. They are protected by copyright and other laws.
1.2 We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Products for your own private, non-commercial purposes, as set out below.
2. Books and free downloads
2.1 You may read, listen to, download, print and keep copies of the books and free downloads you've obtained, for yourself and your household.
2.2 You may not copy, share, upload, resell or republish them, in whole or in part, or create works based on them, without our written permission.
3. Apps
3.1 Licence term. An app licence lasts for the period you bought (a free 30-day trial, 1 month or 12 months). The app reminds you before it ends. After it ends, the app still lets you enter a new code, print your history reports and use the emergency contacts button; everything else needs a current licence. Your records stay on your device either way.
3.2 Activation codes. Each activation code is for you and your own household, on the devices you use. It is not to be shared, sold or published. We record each activation (see our Privacy Policy) and may block a code that is being shared or misused. Blocking stops the code from activating again; it doesn't delete anything on your device.
3.3 Carer Workbench. A Carer Workbench licence includes a special carer version of the Health Record app, for use by the carer who holds the licence.
3.4 Your records are yours, and stay with you. The apps store what you enter in your browser on your own device. They contain no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and never send your health information to us or anyone else. We can't see, recover or restore it. You are responsible for keeping backups, using the backup features in each app, and for keeping your passkey phrase safe: a locked file can't be opened without it, and we can't reset it.
3.5 Not a medical device. The apps help you plan, record and print information you enter. They don't diagnose, give medical advice, monitor anyone, or raise emergency alerts, and they don't replace your doctor, pharmacist or emergency services. Check medicine information with a pharmacist or doctor.
3.6 You may not copy the apps for others, remove their licence checks, or reverse-engineer them, except where the law allows this despite this Agreement.
4. Information, not professional advice
4.1 The Products give general information for education. We are not medical, legal, financial or security professionals, and nothing in them is advice for your situation.
4.2 We take care to keep the Products accurate and up to date, and we check facts against named sources, but we can't guarantee that every detail is complete, current or suitable for everyone. Please use your own judgment and seek professional advice where appropriate.
5. Liability
5.1 To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the Products.
5.2 Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law and the rights of consumers in the EU and UK.
6. Ending this Agreement
6.1 This licence continues until it ends under clause 3.1 or is ended under this clause.
6.2 We may end it if you seriously breach it, for example by publishing or selling our content or activation codes. If we do, you must stop using the affected Products.
7. Governing law
7.1 This Agreement is governed by the law of Queensland, Australia. Consumers living elsewhere keep the protection of the mandatory laws of their own country and may use their local courts.
8. Changes
We may update this Agreement. The version that applies to a purchase is the one published when you bought. Material changes to app licences will not apply to a licence period you've already paid for.
